Fold Formed Hoop Earrings of Straight Grain Mokume Gane
Sterling Silver, Shibuichi, Copper
1" in diameter, 1/2" wide
© 2008, V. Lansford $249.

The technique of fold forming, pioneered by artist, Charles Lewton-Brain, involves forging metal sheet to make it curve along the fold(s). To mix things up a bit, I used straight grain mokume gane of sterling, copper, and shibuichi instead of a single metal. Once I had finished the forging, I ground the surface of the outside to expose the resulting cross section of the different metals.
