Learn
the high relief hammered techniques of chasing
and repoussé, used
by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Celts, and which
is little known in the West. This technique is a specialty
of Victoria's. She has been working in it since 1991
when she first learned from Gia Gogishvilli, a master
metalsmith from the Republic of Georgia. Victoria is
the only teacher in the USA currently teaching this
style of repoussé.
In addition to making at least 2 pieces of repoussé
suitable for jewelry, experience miniature blacksmithing
by learning to make tools from hex keys, including your
own stamps and logos or initials. Make only 2 tools
before chasing right away. This approach insures that
you will actually complete pieces of art and not just
the tools.
